Barton Corner
The Barton Corner Bridge Project consists of the replacement of two bridges carrying I-95 over Rte. 2 in West Warwick. The $6.4 million construction project used accelerated bridge technology, similar to the Iway project, allowing D’Ambra Construction to complete the work in significantly less time. D’Ambra constructed the bridges off-line, minimizing disruptions to traffic, and replaced the bridges within days, in lieu of years. This was the first accelerated bridge construction project, of this scale, for RIDOT. From the start of the project, Turino assisted in monitoring the execution of the bridge move. The project is anticipated to complete on time, and while the roadway work is complete, finishing touches are being applied. The 87 foot bridge carries over 72,000 vehicles daily.
